I have devoted myself to achieving and preserving the kind of work that The Stage has produced for so many years. I’m excited to be a part of San Jose Stage Company’s continued growth in this next chapter.

As we head into Season 36 at San Jose Stage Company we are also entering a new and exciting era of growth for the organization.  In an effort to support this expansion and need for vital art in our community we are pleased to announce the appointment of Allison Rich as our new Associate Artistic Director.  Allison has been a pivotal part, for nearly a decade, of San Jose Stage's mission of producing powerful, provocative, and profound works that illuminate the human condition.  In her new role she will be expanding on her current contributions to The Stage by working alongside Artistic Director Randall King to support the overall artistic vision of the company.

It has been close to 10 years since Allison first graced The Stage.  Since then she has performed in over 20 productions with San Jose Stage Company garnering her a Theatre Bay Area Award for Outstanding Female Actor in a Featured Role in a Musical for her work in THE TOXIC AVENGER in addition to multiple award nominations for THE THREEPENNY OPERA, THE ADDAMS FAMILY, and VENUS IN FUR.

You may have seen Allison on our stage in a variety of roles but her vast skill set and understanding of the industry go far beyond her acting talents.  Her artistic sensibilities made her a valuable addition to our staff in her five years as Casting Director, helping us to showcase some of the best talent in the Bay Area.  She has also been behind the table for five of our summer musicals serving as Musical Director and this summer made her directorial debut with our smash hit HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH.

As the new Associate Artistic Director she will be pulling from her array of experience in order to help produce our five show mainstage season.  Her background in combination with her fierce talent and ferocious artistic integrity is sure to propel San Jose Stage forward in our growth.

When you work with an artist that truly reflects the mission of your organization you must provide every opportunity that allows both the artist and company to flourish.
— Randall King | San Jose Stage Artistic Director

Hopefully you are as excited to see the fruits of this collaboration as we are.  We look forward to seeing you at The Stage in Season 36!
